#84 Rhinegold
This is what our brewmaster Johannes Forschbach says about his beer:
Why did you choose this beer style and what is special about your recipe?
I chose the Wiess beer style because Rhenish-style beers were my first contact with beer and a key reason why I chose to become a brewer. My recipe differs from the usual Wiess by using a bit of rye malt and a higher original gravity. This makes my Braumeister Edition stronger than other Wiess beers.
How would you describe the taste and how does the name fit?
Rhinegold is top-fermented and has a rather light body. The addition of some rye malt gives this beer a grainy, spicy malt base. Perle hops add a pleasantly spicy base bitterness, while Hallertau Blanc aroma hops give the beer a fine, crisp hop aroma.
As the name suggests, the beer is said to shine in the glass in a rich golden yellow and its taste is reminiscent of the beers from the most beautiful city on the Rhine, but a little more robust and strong.
What occasion is this beer suitable for?
Following the motto “Liquids don’t break the fast,” Rhinegold at festival beer strength is a great companion for Lent, also for all those who want to extend the carnival season in a convivial atmosphere.
