#85 Achilles
This is what our brewmaster Johannes Schnitzenbaumer says about his beer:
Why did you choose this beer style and what is special about your recipe?
From the very beginning, my goal for my Braumeister Edition was to brew a beer with alternative malts. Emmer, one of the oldest grains, was cultivated until the High Middle Ages and, along with einkorn and spelt, served as a staple food – much like wheat today. Archaeological finds document its use in numerous cultures, including the Middle East, Mesopotamia, and ancient Egypt. Emmer-based beer was brewed in Egypt over 4,000 years ago, and in Mesopotamia, the tradition dates back as far as 10,000 years.
How would you describe the taste and how does the name fit?
It captivates with delicate caramel notes and a gentle cereal aroma. Its deep chestnut brown color lends it a special elegance. Its taste is subtly malty, with a harmonious caramel note that lingers pleasantly on the finish.
What occasion is this beer suitable for?
An Emmer beer pairs perfectly with a hearty Bavarian snack with freshly baked, crusty bread. Its malty and nutty notes harmonize beautifully with the robust flavors of bacon, sausage, and cheese.
Design:
Achilles represents strength and heroism – inspired by the legendary warrior who defeated Hector in the Trojan War.
