BRAUMEISTER-EDITION #73: Flandern Blonde
Our Braumeister Edition #73 for the month of April is available today!
#73 Flandern Blonde
Why did you choose this style of beer and what is special about your recipe?
As I'm half Belgian, it was clear that I would choose a Belgian beer style. The Belgian Blonde (the liquid gold of Belgium) is one of my favorite styles of beer. This recipe is the very first one I've ever brewed myself. What's special about it is that it's a single hop beer, brewed with just one type of hop.
How would you describe the taste and how does the name fit?
The taste is very hoppy due to the very late hopping and dry-hopping during storage. Flavors like grapefruit and citrus come through. The wheat content makes it rounder and fuller-bodied. The name says it all: Flanders Blonde, the Belgian region and the straw yellow color (blonde).
What occasion is this beer suitable for?
It goes wonderfully with a sunny day. We ring in the spring with it and drink it over
all summer. Just be careful with the slightly higher alcohol content, you can taste it
not out.
